7 Days / 6 Nights Selous Game Reserve & Ruaha National Park

Day 1: Dar es Salaam → Selous Game Reserve

Fly from Dar es Salaam Airport to the Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by your camp vehicle and transferred to the lodge, enjoying game viewing en route. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive in an open safari vehicle.

Days 2 & 3: Selous Game Reserve

Spend two full days exploring the vast Selous Game Reserve while staying at a tented lodge overlooking the Rufiji River gorge. Activities include game drives in 4×4 vehicles, boat excursions, and guided walking safaris.

• The Selous is renowned for its elephants and was originally designated as a hunting reserve, making wildlife here abundant yet more elusive than in northern parks.
• Walking safaris offer an intimate connection with the wilderness, while Land Rover excursions provide excellent photographic opportunities across diverse landscapes.
• A boat safari along the Rufiji River reveals hippos, crocodiles, and an impressive array of birdlife—over 350 species recorded, particularly in the miombo woodlands and Rufiji swamplands.

Day 4: Selous Game Reserve → Ruaha National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Ruaha National Park. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to your camp for lunch. Later in the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in Ruaha.

Days 5 & 6: Ruaha National Park

Spend two full days exploring Ruaha National Park by 4×4 safari vehicle.

• The Ruaha River is a breathtaking focal point, attracting staggering concentrations of wildlife.
• Elephants dominate the landscape, while hippos thrive in large numbers.
• Other highlights include kudu, eland, giraffe, and dik-dik, all flourishing in this diverse ecosystem.

Dinner & Overnight: Ruaha Camp

Day 7: Ruaha → Dar es Salaam

After an early breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your return flight to Dar es Salaam.
